Edit Author Slug

p. ej.: https://example.com/author/author-slug/

Why can’t I edit my Author Slug?

Make sure you are an admin, or have been assigned the edit_users capability.

Why isn’t my new Author Slug working?

While I’ve made every attempt to prevent this, I may have missed a spot or two. First things first, go to Settings > Permalinks and click «Save Changes.» You don’t need to actually need to make any changes for this to work. Hopefully, this should kick your new Author Slug into gear.

If this doesn’t work, make sure you don’t have any slug conflicts from other posts/pages/plugins/permalink setting/etc. If you’re still experiencing the issue, feel free to post a support request in the forums.

I rarely write reviews, but this is just too perfect not to! My site is a social network, so I want for people to be able to set their own nickname. The problem is that their profile slug comes from their username, which can't be changed easily. This plugin solves that problem by leaving the username as whatever it was registered as and uses their nickname as the slug instead. I can apply this site-wide retroactively as well as have it automatically change the slug when people change their nickname. I see the plugin is a bit out of date, so I hope that it will continue to work into the future.

No muss, no fuss. Allows administrators to change usernames to something less vulnerable to hacking. Also substitutes a hash string for the "nice name" which otherwise discloses the username to any ol' bot who asks, by displaying it in the URL when listing an author's contributions. My proof that it works? Bots have tried brute force attacks by logging the newly-minted hash'ed nice name. They've also come perilously close to guessing the first admin name that was set up by WP, which has been changed. This plugin took away at least two possible routes to a bot or a human getting lucky with us.
