Depending on the image and format, reductions in size of up to 70% are possible. Several kilobytes can be saved per image—these savings contribute positively to the performance of the blog website. Durante el proceso de subida de imágenes a la biblioteca de medios, el plugin _Optimus_ envía simultáneamente las imágenes al servidor _Optimus_, donde el material recibido es procesado y enviado de vuelta de forma optimizada. Después, el plugin _Optimus_ guarda en la biblioteca de medios la versión de la imagen con un tamaño de archivo reducido. La optimización de imágenes – _incluyendo miniaturas_ – se lleva a cabo en segundo plano y fuera de la vista del usuario. Las ganancias de la compresión de la imagen por archivo son mostradas por Optimus dentro de la biblioteca de medios en forma de valor porcentual. The PNG format works well for illustrations, JPEG on the other hand is the right choice for photographs. Another reason: the size reduction always works more quickly for JPEGs. * Your images have been optimized using Desktop tools such as ImageOptim (Mac) or PNGGauntlet (Win) before you upload them? Optimus has the significant benefit of also minimizing the thumbnails (=preview images) created by WordPress. Warum?
