## Descripción

PLX Lead Attribution gives every [Contact Form 7](https://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/)
form on your site automatic marketing attribution, with no per-form setup required.

When a visitor lands on your site, the plugin reads the following from the URL and
stores them in the browser for 30 days:

 * `utm_source`
 * `utm_medium`
 * `utm_campaign`
 * `utm_term` (also accepts `utm_keyword` or `utm_content` as fallbacks)
 * A click ID (`gclid`, `clid`, or `ad_id`)

If no UTM source is present, the referring domain is captured instead (or «Direct»
if there is none), so every submission has a source even without a tagged link.

Five hidden fields are injected into every CF7 form automatically:

 * `utm-source`
 * `utm-medium`
 * `utm-campaign`
 * `utm-term`
 * `utm-clid`

Whichever values were captured are filled into those fields just before the form
is submitted, and the same values are appended to the CF7 notification email so
they land straight in your inbox — no shortcodes, no manual field configuration,
no third-party tracking service.

**Requires [Contact Form 7](https://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/) to be
installed and active.** This plugin does nothing on its own — it only adds functionality
to CF7 forms.

#### Privacy

This plugin stores UTM parameters, click IDs, and the referring domain in the visitor’s
browser `localStorage` for up to 30 days, purely so the data survives from the landing
page to whichever page the contact form is submitted on. No data is sent to any
third-party or external service by this plugin. Captured values are only transmitted
when a visitor submits a Contact Form 7 form, at which point they are included in
that form’s own submission and notification email exactly like any other form field.

## Instalación

 1. Install and activate [Contact Form 7](https://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/)
    if it isn’t already.
 2. Upload the `plx-utm-attribution` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or install the
    plugin through the WordPress plugins screen directly.
 3. Activate the plugin through the «Plugins» screen in WordPress.
 4. That’s it — every existing and new CF7 form will automatically receive the hidden
    UTM fields and the extra lines in its notification email. No configuration is needed.

## FAQ

### Do I need to add anything to my Contact Form 7 form templates?

No. The hidden fields are injected automatically into every CF7 form on the site.

### What happens if Contact Form 7 isn’t installed?

The plugin’s hooks simply never run, so nothing happens — no errors, no output.
Contact Form 7 is required for the plugin to have any effect.

### Where is the UTM data stored?

Only in the visitor’s own browser (`localStorage`), for up to 30 days, until it
is submitted through a CF7 form. The plugin does not use cookies, does not create
any database tables, and does not send data anywhere else.

### Can I change which UTM parameters are tracked?

Not via settings in this version — the tracked parameters and field names are fixed.
Developers can adjust `js/utm-tracking.js` directly if a site needs different behaviour.
