Why use Plausible?

Plausible is built for privacy-conscious website owners. Here’s what makes it a great Google Analytics alternative:

Check website traffic and site analytics in 1 minute

Plausible is simple and it cuts through the noise. No layers of menus, no need for custom reports. Get all the important insights on one single page. No training necessary.

Lightweight script which keeps your site speed fast

Plausible script is 45 times smaller than Google Analytics script. Your page weight will be cut down, your site will load faster and you will reduce the carbon footprint for a greener web.

Doesn’t track nor collect any personal data

Plausible respects the privacy of your visitors. Your traffic data is not used for any other purposes. You fully own and control 100% of your data.

No cookie banners or GDPR/CCPA consent needed

Plausible does not use cookies and is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, PECR and other privacy regulations out of the box.

Define key goals and track conversions

Set custom events or page URLs as your goals and see how they convert over time to understand and identify the trends that matter.

Get weekly or monthly reports directly into your inbox

Keep an eye on your traffic with automated email reports. Email reports can be scheduled to be sent to multiple recipients.

Open your web analytics to everyone

Your stats are private by default but you can choose to be transparent and make them public so anyone with your custom link can view them.

Automatic installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t need to leave your web browser. To do an automatic install of Plausible Analytics, log in to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the Plugins menu and click «Add New».

In the search field type «Plausible Analytics» and click Search Plugins. Once you have found the plugin you can view details about it such as the point release, rating and description. Most importantly of course, you can install it by simply clicking «Install Now».

Manual installation

The manual installation method involves downloading our plugin and uploading it to your server via your favorite FTP application. The WordPress codex contains instructions on how to do this here.

Why is Plausible not free like Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is free because Google has built their company and their wealth by collecting and analyzing huge amounts of personal information from web users and using these personal and behavioral insights to sell advertisements.

With Plausible, you 100% own and control all of your website data. This data is not being shared with or sold to any third-parties. Since we don’t make money from targeted advertisement, we must ask for a small fee to keep the servers running.

Excellent! An ideal solution for any company concerned about the web environment and its data. Finally, the RGPD will have allowed professionals like you to develop solutions much more coherent and respectful than the one we are used to using. Thanks

Plausible is a great privacy-focused alternative to Google Analytics. As far as the plugin goes, it does more than just insert a script tag. It also skips tracking for admin users and lets you specify a custom domain for the tracking script, if used. Nice clean interface and organized code. Thanks for this little helper plugin.

A plugin with clear and only a minimal amount options, works out-of-the-box, the WordPress way. The product is a great and a nice initiative, it is how the whole world wide web supposed to be working: privacy-friendly.

Glad to find an easy way to add to WordPress sites. I reviewed the plugin code, and it looks solid. Especially cool that it supports important Plausible features out of the box: First-party domain and 404 and outbound link tracking. And the plugin can be set to exclude visits by WordPress admins. Thoughtful work!

Just installed. Seems to be working like a charm. Does not drop tracking cookies and data seems accurate. Do not require to manually add script within <head> like the other Plausible plugin version available. Let on the long run but Plausible looks great 🙂
